Education
Dorothy began attending the Richmond Road School, Ponsonby, on 8 February 1904, when she was almost six years old. She was enrolled there by her father, William. The school register notes that the family was living on Chamberlain Street at the time. At the time of enrollment, Dorothy's sister, Bertha, and brother, George, were also students at the school. Dorothy's older siblings had also attended the school.

Dorothy completed Standard I in July 1907, Standard II in December 1908, and Standard III in December 1909. She was withdrawn from the Richmond Road School on 22 February 1910 as the family were relocating to Birkdale on Auckland's North Shore. It is unknown if Dorothy completed her schooling at the Birkdale School.

Birkenhead
The Keymer family moved to Birkdale Road, Birkenhead, Auckland, in early 1910.

PARLANE. Dorothy, beloved wife of Brother H. R. Born at the turn of the century into one of the first Seventh-day Adventist families in New Zealand, Sister Parlane has been a true mother in Israel. Family connections and church friends filled the Royal Oak church to hear the Word of God and to share in the ministry of consolation. Pastor F. Barfoot was associated with the writer at the church and the Mangere lawn cemetery, where our sister now rests in sure and certain hope of a joyful resurrection through Jesus Christ our Lord. R. P. Brown.
